FTGate for the ISP

As an ISP your concerns will be different from that of other companies. You have to offer an impeccable service to your customers and you need to know that you have chosen the best possible solution to achieve this.

FTGate4 is that solution.

A principle design aim for FTGate4 was to produce a package that would be an ideal backbone server for ISP's. In order to achieve this we had the help of several ISPs who provided extensive input during the development phase of FTGate4.

We believe that the result is the perfect solution to the issues faced by an ISP.

  • Reliability
FTGate has one of the best records for reliability in the industry. Our software follows a full QA release plan before a version is released and we have a full issue tracking system that prevents any issue being overlooked.
  • Ease of maintenance
Using the web administration system your network managers can simply configure the servers from their desktops without having to visit each server. The IP based security options mean that access to the administration is only possible from machines within a specific IP range thus preventing the possibility of unauthorised access to the servers. This is in addition to the necessity of a secure password.
  • Scalability
FTGate can handle thousands of domains and millions of accounts on a single machine. In addition its unique replicator feature allows the self configuring of a network of FTGatePro machines from a single master server. This is a key feature especially developed for ISPs with multiple server scenarios.
  • Networking support
While FTGate is quite happy routing mail through the system using the MX record priorities that you have configured in your DNS records, FTGate allows a more scalable approach to network traffic routing and maintenance. The replicator service allows you to build a network of servers that will route traffic while taking their network configuration from a central server. This allows an administrator to set the desired network handling on a master server and know that all the slave servers will correctly configure themselves. Adding a new server becomes a matter of adding a new slave and pointing it to the master, it will then configure itself to match the other slaves. It really is that easy!
  • Unauthorised relay protection
FTGate allows the administrator to set the valid IP address range for each of the SMTP and POP3 services, allowing you to specify which IP ranges can relay through your servers. In addition you can enable POP3 validation before relaying or SMTP AUTH validation for customers who do not have a fixed IP address.
  • Account control
FTGatePro allows a selection of account control features. Accounts can be limited in their valid dates, thus allowing the administrator to set a duration of account availability. Additionally accounts can be limited in volume by both the number and size of messages in the mailbox.
  • SDPS and POP3
FTGate supports RFC2449 and adds the SDPS (*ENV) extension. This allows customers to collect mail from a POP3 mailbox and maintain the original SMTP envelope of the message. Users of FTGateOffice and FTGatePro can also benefit by using SmartPop which also has support for SDPS. This enables your customers to retrieve their mail through firewalls while maintaining the original delivery details of the message. Use of SDPS is an alternative to using ETRN, which demands a static IP address and is therefore not compatible with dynamically assigned dial up scenarios.
