Security Features

"Your knowledge, unlike your wealth, can be worth more to your competitors than it is to you."

FTGate4 offers some of the most advanced security options available on the market and is probably the most secure mail server available.

FTGate4 offers total security protection for your network:

  • Service Security
    Protecting your server from attack.
  • Message Security
Transmitting messages between offices in a secure manner
    by preventing electronic eavesdropping.
  • Groupware Security
Protecting internal data from unauthorised access.

Service security

FTGate4 offers an impressive list of features to protect your server from unauthorised access. All access to services is controlled through security policies which can be shared between services. An IP address that is banned in a policy is thus banned in all services that use that policy. Each IP range can have a variety of options set including denying access, performing SPF, RBL and PTR lookups, Authentication control etc.

In addition to the control over IP address, the administrator can specify exactly which mail accounts can use each service and even the times of day during which access is permitted.

Message Security

FTGate4 includes full support for SSL and TLS in the SMTP, POP3, IMAP and HTTP (WebAdmin and WebMail) services. FTGate also allows encryption of the SMTP send and SmartPop mail collection systems. Each system can be configured to use SSL, TLS or optionally use TLS if available.

The use of SSL/TLS makes secure data transfer between offices a reality with no opportunity for eavesdroppers to intercept your messages.

Groupware Security

FTGate4 includes an impressive set of groupware functions with multiple resources being shared. In this environment it is essential that strict controls are maintained over who has access to each resource. FTGate4 limits access to all features through a system of access based on individual users and groups of users and a set of permissions. A user only has access to a resource if they, or a group they are a member of, has been granted access and they have sufficient privileges to carry out a task. For example, if a user only has read access to a shared mailbox, then that user can read mail, but not delete mail.

Total Security

FTGate offers the maximum levels of security currently available in a mail server.
